Top 5 Fast Food French Fries

Posted on October 10, 2011

Top five fast food French fries – try saying that ten times in a row. French fries (or “Freedom fries” for the diehard patriots out there) are some of the most iconic options on fast food menus. You can find them no matter where you go, and they all taste a little different. Some restaurants, like Whataburger, have pretty crappy French fries. Then there are the five restaurants listed below, which have fries good enough to be their own meals. If you’ve been searching for the ultimate frickin’-awesome fried potatoes, you’ve come to the right place. Here are a few to try.

5 – McDonald’s French Fries

McDonalds fries are cheap, but they taste pretty good for the money. I find them to be a bit salty at times, but some people adore that about them. Fir the most part, these fries are exactly what you would expect them to be. They are crispy without being burnt, and they’re free of some of the extravagant seasonings the options below have. They’re not my favorites, but I can’t deny that they’re pretty good most of the time.

4 – Carl’s Jr. Criss Cuts

Criss Cut fries are fantastic in theory, but I think they could be a little better. They’re basically waffle fries with curly fry seasoning on them, which makes them a supposedly awesome combination of flavors. The only problem I have with them is that they taste like crap once they get soggy, so you have to make sure you eat them right when they’re made. If you’re in an online university, you could just take your school work with you and eat while you’re in class. That would save the trip home and the potential sogginess of the fries.

3 – Burger King French Fries

Like McDonald’s fries, BK French fries are just what you would expect them to be. They’re fried potatoes with salt on top. I think that Burger King fries taste better though, and they seem to maintain their crispiness better. My husband got me hooked on eating well done fries, so that’s all I get from here now. You should try it sometime. The extra time the fries spend in the fryer makes them crisp, golden brown, and incredibly tasty no matter what you eat them with. Get a burger to go with them, and you should be all set.

2 – KFC Potato Wedges

I got my mother-in-law to fall in love with KFC potato wedges, and now I’m aiming to do the same with all of you. These things taste amazing. Period. They’re shaped like standard potato wedges, but they are seasoned to perfection. They have just the slightest bit of spiciness to them, but nothing that you couldn’t handle. I’m a wimp when it comes to peppers, and I love them. The only problem is that some of them are really fat, so all you get from them is a huge bite of potato. If you can pick out the sumo wrestlers in the bunch, you should have a delicious set of fries to eat with your chicken.

1 – Arby’s Curly Fries

Fsuirbsibtsebrvbsh. Sorry, I just had to wipe the drool off the keyboard from thinking about Arby’s curly fries. These things are divine. Absolutely divine. They’re so diving they’re making me use the word divine, which never happens. They’re curly, seasoned, fried, and just plain delicious. I can’t say anything else about them. If you do want to eat some of them though, I suggest dipping them in Honey Mustard or Arby’s Sauce. They pair well with those sauces. You may think that other fries out there are better, but you’re not the one writing this blog post. So, I’m right. Arby’s wins. Case close.
